U.S. Citizens Showing Greater Concern for Climate Pollution in New Poll

TTT Reporting

Dec 8, 2023

A recent poll conducted by the SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS) shows that nearly two-thirds of U.S. citizens are concerned about the threat of climate change in their communities. More than half are worried about the impact of recent extreme weather in the form of record high temperatures, devastating storms and severe drought. These unprecedented conditions are only seeming to get worse which is great cause for concern among all communities as this climate crisis touches every region.

The majority of poll voters want the federal government to take action. Nearly 73% of U.S. adults say the federal government should develop and implement new climate policies with a goal to cut the countries planet-warming pollution in half by the end of the decade. This climate crisis has been the main focal point of the Biden administration since his inauguration. Biden has made tackling the climate crisis a greater priority than any other president thus far.

This poll was created in the wake of a national debate held at the COP28 climate summit in Dubai regarding the future of fossil fuels. Vice President Kamala Harris announced during this summit that the U.S. would commit a further $3 billion to the global climate action fund. The Biden administration also announced new rules to slash emissions of methane by 80% from the U.S. oil and gas industry.

His administration has been working to implement several federal regulations designed to cut pollution from the oil and gas industry, power plants, and gas-powered vehicles. In addition to this, the Biden administration has put billions of dollars into tax subsidies to create more renewable energy infrastructure and aid consumers to buy discounted electric vehicles, solar panels, and energy-efficient appliances.

Luckily, both parties have concluded that limiting climate pollution is a bipartisan aspiration - everyone will have to work together to solve the issue. Nearly all Democrats state that the U.S. should slash its green-house gas emissions in half by 2030, 76% of independents and over half of Republicans agree.
