Former President Donald Trump has been found guilty on all 34 charges in the infamous hush-money trial making him the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes.
Sentencing has been scheduled for July 11. Despite the possibility of jail time, Trump could still run for president, a scenario that has occurred in the past. However, legal experts are skeptical about the likelihood of him receiving a jail sentence.
Leaving the courthouse, Trump said, “This was a disgrace; this was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who is corrupt. This was a rigged trial, a disgrace; they wouldn’t give us a venue change; we are at five percent or six percent in this district - in this area. This was a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict is going to be November 5 by the people, and they know what happened here, and everybody knows what happened here.”
This is the first time that falsification of records has been charged as a felony in New York State. The appeals process will now proceed forward as Trump’s attorneys work to get the ruling overturned. This is a breaking story with more information being reported as it is made available.
