(BATON ROUGE, La) More Louisiana legislators show praise to Governor Jeff Landry as he travels to Texas to show support for respective Governor Greg Abbott.
Louisiana legislators have shown their support to Landry as he made his way to Eagle Pass, Texas to see the southern border crisis first hand, an issue that both democratic and republican statesmen are starting to find common ground with.
Regarding his support for Landry’s visit, Louisiana Legislator Nicholas “Nicky” Muscarello said in an interview, "I've been receiving calls and I 100% believe we need to enforce the border. I’m also 100% sure the state is not as wealthy as others and maybe doesn’t need to spend millions to do it.”
Muscarello went on to say, “I’m a fiscal conservative - sometimes I vote for what I don’t want because it’s what the voters are saying they want. I hear the support for the southern border and agree with it as well, but Texas has plenty of money to deal with this when Louisiana does not. There’s plenty of things we need to be devoting our time and funds to. I agree that Louisiana should show their support and stand with Texas but maybe not spend upwards of $3 million to do it.”
“The issue I am 100% in support of, but it’s just a sad time when the country as a whole is fighting on an issue that we shouldn't be fighting about. I mean even the democrats are beating the drum and saying this is a problem.”
“We need to get wins for the state period. Everything we need to do needs to be about winning for Louisiana,” Muscarello said.
