Landry Heads to Texas

TTT Reporting

Feb 2, 2024

(BATON ROUGE, La) Gov. Jeff Landry (R) has left for the Texas border to see the immigration issue Governor Greg Abbott (R) and the citizens are dealing with.

Landry is visiting the famed Eagle Pass which is a known hot spot for illegal immigration hosting over 12,000 immigrants in the week of Dec. 17-20, 2023 alone. This mission is not just to show Louisiana support for the Texas government in withholding their borders but also to illuminate the issue of our southern border so that everyone can see the magnitude of the problem we are facing.

Louisiana District Rep. John Wyble (R) said, "I am in complete support of the Governor's visit to Texas. They have always been our friend, and we should stand by in support during their time of need. The Gov. and the Attorney General support them, and I do as well."

On the topic of why we should support Texas in its dealing with this crisis event, Wyble said, "First and foremost, we love legal immigration, but the sovereignty of our nation is at stake here. It's important to support our state's rights to defend themselves from crisis events."

"This affects our citizens; these are hardened criminals coming in, and this absolutely affects our great state and the safety of our citizens," Wyble said.

The issue of undocumented immigration has been a long-standing issue between House Republicans and House Democrats, with Republicans generally looking for more funding for security budgeted towards the assurance of our southern border and House Democrats leaning for a more open border to allow for immigration.
