Collegiate Statewide projects and preventative programs
The South Carolina State Day of Service and Leadership Training.
College and area leaders will join together to make a change during a day of service in the South Carolina local communities. The day begins with an informative lecture and forum about current community service activities throughout the state and nation. Then, students and community leaders will complete a service event that’s on a grand scale.
After the service is completed, there will be a barbecue held and a band performing to commemorate the event. Each South Carolina College or University will be represented in the Day of Service.

The Stay a Night, Save a Life Program.
According to the United States Department of Transportation, South Carolina’s roads are some of the most dangerous in the country. In 2001 alone there were 974 crashes (632 injured, 30 deaths) caused by sleepy or tired drivers.
In 1999, an Omnibus Sleep in America Poll conducted by the National Sleep Foundation concluded that:
- 62% of the adult public had driven while drowsy during the past year.
- The younger the adult, the more likely he or she has driven while drowsy in the past year.
- 72% of the people between the ages of 18-24 have driven while drowsy in the past year.
To combat these sleep and fatigue-related deaths and injuries, the Tomorrow…Today Foundation has developed the Stay a Night, Save a Life Program. The Stay a Night program gives college students who are fatigued, intoxicated, or traveling in inclement weather an opportunity to spend the night at participating hotels located across the United States, for a cost of only $29. The student must be at least 50 miles from his or her home (unless approved by the Hotel manager) and show a valid student I.D. in order to get the discounted rate. The reduced room fee will be extended during weekends, late night hours and heavy travel times such as Winter and Spring Break.
Many college students around the nation have been personally affected by the injury and loss of those who have died because of fatigue-related driving crashes. The “Stay a Night, Save a Life” Program is helping stop tragedy in its tracks.

Lead by Example Collegiate Leadership and Role Model Program.
Leaders are made, not born. This popular adage has been quoted by many speakers and orators alike. But the question of how one becomes a leader still arises in our minds. Advice and proverbs on how to live one’s life can be nothing more than empty words to an adolescent who’s at the edge of his or her rope. They need someone who not only talks the talk, but also walks the walk to show them how to lead their lives.
The T&T Foundation has set a mandate to be doers - people of action and results. Because of this, we’ve developed the Lead by Example Collegiate Leadership and Role Model program. This program allows college athletes, scholars, and coaches an opportunity to showcase their leadership ability with elementary and middle school youth.
T&T sponsors programs such as Kid to Lunch (where college students and leaders take children to lunch either on campus or at a participating restaurant, and talks with them about their lives and dreams for the future), Like You Shadow Day (a day where youth are paired with a student who is majoring in the field that they’re interested in) and T&T Play Day (a day where each college campus provides a day of fun for inner-city youth with rides, face painting, sports, etc).
The Lead by Example program is just another example of how the Tomorrow…Today Foundation, Inc. enriches lives in a way that will produce positive, productive young leaders of society.
